Become an opportunist, always being on the lookout for new opportunities was a lesson we learned this week. Whether it is the manure pumping industry or in the insurance field, always
be on the lookout for new opportunities and connections. This week in the Pike CEO class we have been staying busy in Class between going on visits, listening to presenters, and thinking
about our personal projects. On Tuesday we had a visit from Peak Insurance who is an investor in the program. We received a basic rundown on how insurance and insurance agencies work
from Patrick VanDeVelde (President/Insurance Advisor) and his son Caleb VanDeVelde (Insurance Advisor). This lesson did a great job at teaching us how insurance works from a business and personal standpoint. On Wednesday we had an in class discussion regarding
personal businesses and the data we had created for them the week prior. This lesson was exciting because it was another stepping stone on the path leading us closer to owning our own
businesses. On Thursday we took a trip to Bradshaw Custom Pumping and were spoken to by Matt Bradshaw (CEO) and Richard Williard (Co-CEO) of Pike Co Power. They stressed the
importance of customer relationships and giving the customer what they want. Every person is slightly different and tailoring to these differences can help a company thrive. On Friday of this
week we went on a recruiting mission to Pleasant Hill. The goal for this visit was to build interest for the juniors coming up in next year's class and get them excited about being a part of Pike
CEO.
